Do You
Remember?
Do you remember when?
When everything was small, and simple,
A smile for a butterfly,
A laugh from a bubble floating past,
When the best thing in the world was an ice-cream,
When a walk to the park and a picnic,
Meant the best thing in the world,
Your greatest achievement,
Was learning to swing on a swing by yourself,
Do you remember when?
When hero's were real,
And fairies lived at the bottom of the garden,
And the pixie's came out at night to play,
When dollies and teddies had to be put to bed,
Because they had feelings too,
When summer holidays were wonderful,
A splash in a paddling pool was the best,
When sun burn didn't matter,
And wearing a hat was boring,
Do you remember when?
When the sea side was a dream come true,
Chocolate tasted wonderful,
But sweets were even better,
Getting paid meant pocket money,
And more sweets and pop,
When a sleep over was something to look forward to,
And an argument with your best friend,
Was the worst thing in the world,
But making up was better than sweets,
Do you remember when?
When Mummy could wipe away the tears,
Of a scrapped knee or a bumped head,
And no one was ever stronger than Daddy,
When death meant buying a new pet,
And giving Mum a bunch of flowers was wonderful,
Even if they came from her garden,
Do you remember when?
Music was for dancing,
Writing was for fun,
Reading was for tales and adventures,
When wearing jewellery meant the plastic beads from
Granny,
When an aeroplane was something to be marvelled at,
And smoking was for the winter,
When the air was cold,
Do you remember when?
You were young and free,
When the world was new,
When everything was wonderful,
And everyone loved your smile,
When nothing mattered,
As long as you were loved?
Do you remember?
I don't,
Can anyone tell me.............
