Dark and
Light
A theory of good and evil: "Thou
believest that there is one God; Thou doest well; the devil also believes and
trembles" The General Epistle of James 2:19
I see us in our puny thoughts,
Contemplate the good and evil,
Way out the pros and cons,
Is it right? Is it wrong?
Heaven or hell,
God or Satan,
Just words,
Christmas or Santa?
Christmas, the birth of Christ,
Santa is an anagram of Satan.
Magic potions to loosen the thoughts,
Deeply buried in the fabrics of time,
The church, built from God,
Or fashioned by man?
Concepts from the eyes of men,
Murder is wrong,
Unless you wear the uniform of a soldier,
Then we'll give you a medal.
Adultery is wrong,
No more will you males,
Spread the seeds of your immortality,
No more will you females,
Sire babes from the specimen,
Deemed fit to fertilize your womb.
God and Satan,
Black and White,
Pawns on a chessboard,
Who plays the game?
Do we, or they?
We are the pawns,
They are the players,
Embrace evil in tender despair,
An excuse to feel human;
In our lonely monstrosity.
Embrace good with eyes,
Too bright to see,
You child of a hundred men,
Which side do you play?
Black or white?
Picture the scene,
A giant chessboard,
No bright shining God,
No devil in red with hooves and horns,
Just two simple beings,
No more, no less.
The sun bright as the fire of God,
Welcome to the darkness,
Welcome to their domain,
They play, we follow,
Black is lost to White,
Again we play,
White is lost to Black,
Again we play.
But what if one piece shall turn to grey?
Whose piece are you?
The voices ask,
I am not yours, and I am not yours,
I am me.
A shivering soul,
Dawned upon the play,
This cannot be,
For you must be,
Black or white.
But I am not,
I am not yours my Lord,
I am not yours my Lord.
This cannot be,
For you must see,
White or black,
Take it back.
But I cannot,
This is my world,
This is my soul,
And I am alive.
I am human in the monstrosity of life,
I am a child of a hundred men,
Just one preternatural mind,
Picking up the ripples,
in an ocean of normality.
How will you win your game now?
Lord of a hundred souls?
Devil of a hundred children?
With one grey piece upon the board,
There is no Black,
There is no White,
Just me.
